Monsoon Summer Mitali Perkins 257
***
"This book is short and easy to read. It's about a girl named Jazz that has to leave behind her best friend Steve in Californa and travel to India with her family for the summer. Once there she learns that she can help the locals in her own way and that she doesn't need to be like her mother and give everything up to help. She also becomes friends with the people ariound her and learns about the local way of life. The only shadow on her life is the fact that she doesn't believe herself good enough for Steve the bestfriend shes fallen for. The book is an easy light reading that is none to serious and a good book to pass the time with." by A.T.
My Sister's Keeper Jodi Picoult 423

*****

****

"My Sister's Keeper is an excellent novel by Jodi Picoult that explores many different questions. Does a parent have a right to "use" a child? When should a child be able to make their own decisions? Anna was born to be a marrow donor for her leukemia-ridden sister, Kate. Picoult shows what happens when Anna refuses to be a pawn and drags her family into a vicious legal battle. Interestingly, Picoult writes each chapter from a different point of view, using every character except Kate. Picoult ends each chapter with a heartfelt revelation. I enjoyed this book because it drew me in and was thorough and well-written. Definetly Picoult's best. Read it! " by Ashley Birdsell

"My Sister's Keeper overall is a well-written book. The story line brings up a sitation that can often be taken for granted. Many families that have a child with cancer delibertly have another child to help the cancerous child by "donating" parts of their body. However, no one ever thinks about how this child would feel. This book explores every thought that goes through one of these child's head. Think about it, would you want to be here just so you can donate parts of your body?" by K.T.

24 Girls in 7 Days Alex Bradley 265
*
"Overall I did not enjoy book. I thought it was way too juvinille and predictable. The main character, Jack is pretty much a normal highschool boy. There was nothing about this character that was intriguing, he was just a noramal kid who was looking for a prom date. When his friends put out an ad saying that Jack needs a date, there were of course disaterous results. Again, too predictable. His ends up having a secret admirer, who was suposed to remained a secret, but I guessed it right away. Not my type of book, I do not recommend it." by Kellie Schweon
Wish You Well David Baldacci 350
*****
"This book is the first in a series of David Baldacci books writing about the realtity of life. Two kids simultanousely lose their parents and are sent to live with a great aunt in West Virginia...quite a change from the big city life of New York City that they're used to. The older sister and her younger brother go through all the troubles of moving to a small city in the south in the early 1900's. David Baldacci had mixed the entertaining style of his writing with the historically acurate information of the time period to create a wildly entertaining novel." by C.F.
How I Paid for College Marc Acito 278
*****
"The book, How I Paid For College is the humorous story of Ed Zanni, whose dream is to attend Julliard, the prestigous art school. When he gets accepted though, his father refuses to pay the tuition. Ed must now find a way to pay for college. But that's not the only thing he has to worry about, he must as struggle with his confusing sexual orientation. This is a remarkable story of friendship and determination with a lot of humor in it. I strongly recommend that anyone who loves mad-capped adventures read this book!!!!!!" by Stephanie Figueroa
Like the Red Panda Andrea Seigel 280
*
"Like the Red Panda is an extremely whiny book about a girl who wants to commit suicde. She is a straight A student, has a loving boyfriend, and extremely nice foster parents, so WHY would she want to kill herself!!!???? I don't know if Andrea Seigel is a good author, but I think she should put the pen down and hang it up!!!! If your into dark humour and whiny brats then be my guest and read this book, but if your normal, STAY CLEAR!!!!!!!!" by Stephanie Figueroa
For One More Day Mitch Albom 208
*****
"I love the way Mitch Albom writes books. As soon as I saw this book, I had to read it. This book is about a man, named Chick, who gets to have one more day with his mother that has passed away. This book made me think about what I would do if I had one more day with a loved one who has passed away. If you are looking for a book that you won't be able to put down, this is the book for you." by R.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Ken Kesey 287

"This is a horrible. Never read it. Ever. If you do, you will be forever subjected to horrible bladder problems." by Matt Naylor
The Rules of Survival Nancy Werlin 259
***
"This book is about a boy named Matt and his family. His family consists of his mother, younger sister Callie, and younger sister Emmy. Also his father Ben and Aunt Bobbie. Matt has a mother whom is crazy. But nobody believes him. Except Murdouch, a man who he meets at a little market. Matt talks about how crazy his mother is and how he has to take care of his sisters. He is always talking about his mother doing this crazy thing and that crazy thing, but in my opinion he is too. Everyone inhis family kind of is. And the book does have some good points, but overall, it is not that good. And if you like an ending like a disney movie, then you might wanna try this book. I didn't like it." by Nataly Saah
13 Little Blue Envelopes Maureen Johnson 321
****
"Following the instructions in little blue evelope number one, Ginny is sent to New York to pick up a package of twelve more envelopes. Thus begins her whirlwind journey through London, Scotland, Rome, Paris, and Greece. Each envelope contains specific instructions that Ginny must follow before she can move on to the next one...tasks that range from finding a starving artist to meeting an eccentric painter. As Ginny travels through Europe, she'll find find love, meet new friends, and learn much more about herself than she ever thought possible. An entertaining, funny, thought-provoking book." by Ashley Birdsell
The Thirteenth Tale Diane Setterfield 406
*****
"The Thirteenth Tale is an excellent book that I would recommend to anyone looking for a good, interesting read. The writing style is classical and full of detail. Amateur biographer Margaret Lea receives a letter from the reclusive author Vida Winter, who has spent decades fabricating different histories for herself. Now, however, she finally wishes to tell the truth. Margaret finds herself immersed in the mysterious story that is Winter's true past, a story encompassing ghosts, enigmatic twins Adeline and Emmeline, and a dreadful fire. The mysteries of Winter's story and Margaret's own are beautifully written, making for a compelling and rich read." by Ashley Birdsell
The Song Reader Lisa Tucker 348
***
"Leeann's sister Mary Beth is a song reader -- almost a kind of psychologist who can read people based on the songs stuck in their heads. The town embrace Mary Beth's "gift" and turns to her with every problem. One summer, though, things go drastically wrong and Mary Beth becomes a recluse, leaving Leeann to sort out the pieces. Told from Leeann's point of view, this is a story that makes you think about family dynamics and even the songs you like yourself. An interesting concept and a compelling storyline, but a rather unanticipated and boring ending." by Ashley Birdsell
Pool Boy Michael Simmons 164
***
"This book is about a boy who's father gets thrown in jail because of messing up with money and their family went from extremely rich to extremely poor. To make money he becomes a pool boy with his former pool worker. He developes a close relationshipship with him and learns alot. Wow. Doesn't that just sound absolutely enthralling. I have to admit that they way it was written was good. Michael Simmons was able to make a teenagers voice very well in the book and the you really saw the boy grow up. However, the completely sarcastic dialogue and lack of a well-developed plot annoyed me. It is a black eyed-susan book but I don't think I would vote for it. It's a quick read all teenage sappy blah and the author knows that or that is how it is expressed. The characters were good. The plot was just..eh.." by Natalia Riccio
Jane Eyre Charlotte Bronte 480
*
"If victorian literature isn't your thing, I would recommend that you find another book. Jane Eyre's plot is ridicously dry and what events it does have are drawn out, sometimes taking a hundred or so pages to occur. The book also contains weak characters and a writing style that may be difficult for some readers. This book doesn't catch your attention from the start, or hold it at any point in the book. If you like books with the "keep you on the edge of your seat" feel, than this book is definately not for you." by Ashleigh Hixon
Sticks and Stones Beth Goobie 86
*****
"A short read but great. It tells a story about a girl who gets dragged into high school gossip. She is considered the new "school slut" although the title is not true. You get a close look at what rumors are really like and how to overcome them." by M.H.
When Dad Killed Mom Julius Lester 183

"When Dad Killed Mom is a great novel, where it puts into action what happens to be going on in America. It is a fictional book, based on true facts, parents killing parents. This book is a great book to read for family growth and reflection." by Garrick Tomlin
The Usual Rules Joyce Maynard 390

"Manny had a tough life with his family members. His dad was an abusive drunk, his brtoher was a gang member, and his mom was a clean-o-holic. He was the only sane person in his family. "This book is about Richard Perry fighting in the Vietnam war. While he is there he notices that war was not the way he expected it, and now he just wants to get out of there alive as soon as possible. While he is there a lot of his friends die, and he keeps wondering if he is next. Perry and his squad have to go defend an area in the forrest of Vietnam so the VC wont get closer to American territory. While he is there,a swarm of bullets go flying around and they are gitting in closer and closer towards the enemy." by J.R.R.

"The book gives a reader a sense of how being in a war menatlly and emotionally how it changes you. It also lets the reader know how difficult it is to understand why you want to kill other human beings even though they look different form you. This book also gives the sense of horror that only a war such as vietnam could give the reader." by Billy Shaff

Kira-Kira Cynthia Kadohata 244
****
"The main characters, two Japanese sisters who cared greatly for each other as both family and friend, experience a strong bond of friendship tested by numerous hardships. The biggest hardship to overcome was moving from a home so familiar to one more in the depths of segragation, where anyone of any ethnicity was treated unjust. The older sister drifts away and acts more "mature" but realizes she was pushing away her true best friend as her terminal illness got even worse. The author's writing style is very descriptive and light-hearded. It's not much of a hard read and it's pretty easy to follow." by A.S.

"Susie tells the story of how she was raped and murdered from heaven. She sees what's going on, on earth, and watches the lives of the people she loves, and other people's lives change." by Nicole, Corraia, Melissa

"This book is really interesting. It is about a girl who gets raped and murdered within the first few pages of the book. Its a really good book so read it.Yeah.."

"Locked in Heaven, Suzie Salmon is doomed to watch her family's life fall to pieces. Suzie Salmon is the protagonist in this spectacular fictional read. Young Suzie Salmon was lured by her curiosity into the hands of a lunatic neighbor. Her neighbor then locked her into his secret hideout and raped and killed her. Suzie now finds herself in Heaven, able to watch over life on earth. She observes her sister build a brick, impenetrable wall around her heart, her mother fall into an adulterous affair, and her father become helpless. The Lovely Bones has characters that are carefully structured and depicted that add to the horrific and comedic elements of the story. The author, Anne Sebold, writes with her heart, as she is a former rape victim. This book not only gives the reader the sensation of reading a good book, but teaches the reader good lessons that they could later apply to situations they find themselves in. If you are looking for a book that not only captures the hope in a serious situation, but a book that captures your heart, The Lovely Bones is book I strongly recommend to the avid, or the apathetic reader." by Carol Rogan

"This is a really good book. It is about a girl names Susie Salmon, who is raped and then murdered by her neighbor. From then on she tells her story from heaven, over-looking her family and friends as she sees life on Earth continue without her. Also, she follows her murderer and watches him cover up his tracks and even hide her dead body. As you read this book you feel what Susie is going through, and how her family reacts to losing her. Overall, this is a book that you should definetly consider reading!" by Selena Mason

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Ann Brashares 290
****
"The sisterhood of the traveling pants is a really good book. Its about the life of four bestfriends, tibby, lena, bridget, and carmen, who need each other to survive the summer. In the story these four girls have never been seperated since birth, but for the first time they will all be in different places this summer. They find a pair of pants that misteriously fits them all. "This is the best book I ever read. It is told from the view of a teenage Brooklyn girl named Winter Santiaga who has no limit of what she will do or say. The title is misleading, I didnt think it would be good but one of the opening sentences caught my eye. The story of this girl is unbelievable and very raw. She acts selfishly through most of the book. It is a little graphic at times so dont read it unless your ready to hear anything." By D.B.

"The book is about a girl names Winter Santiago a.k.a Sasha who goes through alot of stuggles behind one another. The book is in my list of the best books written and read! It was written perfectly for you to keep turning the page.!" by A.W.

When he is summoned by Nathaniel, he is commanded to capture the infamous amulet in the title, sending both demon and human on a twisting trail of magic, intrigue, and murder. A magical empire in turmoil is about to undergo a revolution of the worst kind, and it's up to these three potential enemies to stop it. It's an AMAZING story, filled with humor, adventure, and drama. You won't be able to put it down!" by B.
Eldest Chris Paolini 500

"Eldest is the amazing sequel to the fantastic book Eragon. Unlike other sequels, this one truly delivers as it continues the story of Eragon and Saphira. While Eragon travels to Du Weldenvarden, home of the mysterious elves, to continue his training, many things happen. First, his cousin Roran uplifts the villagers of Plancanar Valley to Surda; Nasuada, the new leader of the Varden, also moves her people to Surda. All the while oblivious to Galbatorix's rising army. This is just as action-packed as Eragon, with all the wonder and excitement as Eragon learns more and more about Dragons and Riders. "In a world where shapeshifters are unknown to humans, there are two that are constantly at war. The Avians, unfeeling people with birds as their second form, dispise the hot blood and tempers of the Serpiente. Every person on each side has lived their life knowing nothing but war. Danica, the princess (soon to be ruler) of the Avians, decides that she'll do anything to end the war, even mary Zane- the prince of the Serpiente. -The clash between the very lifestyles of these people makes the book worht reading. The characters' personalities make it so there's never a dull moment." by Mornon

"Hawksong is about two shapes shifters Danica Shardae and Zane Cobriana who are forced to marry to end a ware between there two sociteties. The couple must deal with many obstacles such as differences in cultures, ridicule from their people, and suppressing their real feelings for eachother. I believe this book is amazing and everyone should read it. Amelia Atwater-Rhodes is one of my favorite authors and i enjoy her style of writing and the development of her characters throughout the book. Overall, Hawksong is a wonderful book." by A.V.

"Hawksong is an amazing story for anyone interested in fantasy. Amelia Atwater-Rohodes is a great author and this is one of her best books. The Time Traveler's Wife Audrey Niffenegger 518

**

"The Time Traveler's Wife is an interesting read that explores Henry's life as a CDP: a Chrono-Displaced Person. Henry travels throughout time at random intervals and cannot control when or where it will happen. Through these excursions, he meets his future wife, Clare. I enjoyed reading both Henry and Clare's points of view, although the changes can be confusing. I would reccomend this book to people who like science fiction elements in a real-life situation, and who are looking for a harder read." by Ashley Birdsell

"The Time Traveler's Wife is about a man named Henry that can time travel, but can't control when or where. He is 28 when he first meets his wife but she has already known him since she was 6. The book tells of some of the various times they meet in the past and in present day, explaining how they met and how they fell in love. The book goes into how hard it is living with the time travel disease and what it's like to never know where your husband is. I felt that the book was a bit slow and that it was only interesting in the middle. I felt that through foreshadowing they gave away the ending too early and made reading the remainder of the book very uninteresting. The main problem with this book was that is was written in a very complicated way with point of view changing every page or so and having to remember what age they were in what time. If you can handle changing time every page or so you would like this book, but if you want light easier reading I would look elsewhere." by A.T.

"'It's dark and gloomy and it smells like dead sheep, but when Zeus says go to Hell, I go.' From the very first line this book catches your attetion. Quicksilver is told from the point-of-view of Hermes, the Greek God of mischeif, travellers and music. The book takes a comical look at what Hermes thought during some of the classic myths that he appears in. The writing style may be a little juvenile for some readers, but the plot is sure to keep you entertained!" by Ashleigh Hixon

Dead Girls Don't Write Letters Gail Giles 136
****
"**Spoilers**"Dead Girls Don't Write Letters" is about a girl who steals deceased people's identity because she can't seem to create a life of her own. She longs for attention and gets it best by pretending to be other people since she doesn't have a family of her own. The main character is from a family where a recently deceased loved one is now being played by this imposter.**(end Spoiler)** I found this book to be a very humorous story because the main character Sunny is just so sarcastic and pessimistic. The story also makes for a great mystery since the entire time you really don't understand what's going on or why Sunny is treating her "sister" so badly. The truth completely takes you by surprise and you finally realize why certain characters reacted to the girl the way they did. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a funny story and to figure out the real situation of the story from beginning till it's revealed at the end." by Courtney Carroll

"This book is about a 15 year old girl, jessica who moves to Bixby with her family. She had heard about many wierd things that happen in bixby ever since she arrived, but what she didn't know about is that the wierdest things that happen are at midnight...the secret hour. this is the first book of the series and they just get better and better." by S.H.

"This book is about four siblings locked up in an attic by their selfish mother. it keeps your attention and is suspenseful the entire time." by E.M.
Into The Garden V.C. Andrews 500
*****
"This book is based on the power of friendship, and that you dont have to be blood to be family. 4 girls are brought together by their family problems and find out that there's more to people then meets the eye. Cat is the main character and as the story progresses she finds out secrets about her past and her family. I think is book is a great book because its real. Its not one of those fluffy fairytales when everybody ends up happy in the end. It tells a story that has happened to teens around the world and is brutally honest about some of the issues we face. V.C Andrews is a very talented writer and captures the thoughts of the teenage mind and emotion." by Jillian Wiley

"The Godfather is about a life of crime in New York. It is mainly about Italian mafias fighting to be the most powerful, while the main character has conflicts within his family. Don Corleone, the godfather, is in charge of the Corleone mafia family and has 3 sons: Sonny, Fredo, and Michael. These 3 sons are very close yet different. Who will become the new godfather? Read the book to find out. The characters are mostly involved in the mafia underworld and are italian. I think that the writing style is understandable yet there are complex parts.I would recommend this book to young adults." by Daniel Ackerman

A Child Called "It" David J. Pelzer 153

"A Child Called "It" is the unforgettable account of one of the most severe child abuse cases in California history. It is the story of Dave Pelzer, who was brutally beaten and starved by his emotionally unstable, alcoholic mother. He learned how to play the games his mother made him play that he would leave him hanging on the thin line between life and death. He was no longer her son he was "it"" by W.B.
Stick Figure Lori Gottlieb 240
***
"Ever wish to be the thinnest girl in the world? Lori Gottlieb does - or rather, she used to. "Stick Figure" is a book about the struggles with being a teenage girl. The book is told from Lori Gottlieb's eleven year old self. She lives in Beverly Hills in 1978 where the motto is "you can never be too rich or too thin." Her story is about growing up and dealing with/overcoming anorexia nervousa. Her story is funny, but has a deep message. I'm sure many teenage girls can relate to her story because like in the late 70's, most girls today are obsessed with their looks and being thin." by S.Y.
