Mission

The mission of the Tuscarora High School Media Center is to support and enhance the curriculum, provide students with the tools to enable them to research and discover information, and to promote a life-long love of reading.

Goals

The 2005-2006 goals for the THS Media Center are as follows:

      • Facilitate and model the effective integration of technology in instruction throughout the building.
      • Promote reading with attractive displays and using student suggestions for collection development
      • Add quality titles to and continue refining a media collection of 26,000+ items

Media Center Staff

Mrs. Diane Szallay, new Media Specialist, 2007-2008 school year.

Ms. Karen Smith, the media center instructional assistant, holds a bachelor's degree in Child Development from the University of Connecticut. Prior to opening THS, Ms. Smith worked for 12 years as a media assistant in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, opening a new middle school and a new high school. Ms. Smith now lives in Mount Airy with her husband while her daughter is attending college.  EMAIL
