"As a long time New York Times Bestseller and an International Bestseller, this book is very entertaining, inspirational and fast-paced. It's especially appropriate for High School girls who should be able to identify with one or more of the main characters. The book chronicles the summer adventures of four 16 year-old girls, friends since birth, as they have very different experiences away from each other one summer. Lena goes to Greece to visit her grandparents and learns important lessons about family, love and culture. Bridget goes to California for a soccer camp and soon realizes that she really misses and needs her deceased mother. Carmen goes to visit her dad and his new fiancé in South Carolina , and learns that she must be patient and give people a chance. Tibby gets a job at the local grocery store. After some resistance, Tibby befriends a 13 year-old girl but, it's too late, as the girl is already very sick from leukemia. The four friends remain connected during the summer by sending a pair of jeans around the world to each other. The jeans miraculously fit all four girls. Overall, it's a heartwarming book that will leave you inspired and wanting to read the three additional Sisterhood novels." By Emily Krause |

"This book is short and easy to read. It's about a girl
named Jazz that has to leave behind her best friend Steve in Californa
and travel to India with her family for the summer. Once there she learns
that she can help the locals in her own way and that she doesn't need to
be like her mother and give everything up to help. She also becomes friends
with the people ariound her and learns about the local way of life. The
only shadow on her life is the fact that she doesn't believe herself good
enough for Steve the bestfriend shes fallen for. The book is an easy light

| My Sister's Keeper |

***** **** | "My
Sister's Keeper is an excellent novel by Jodi Picoult that explores
many different questions. Does a parent have a right to "use" a
child? When should a child be able to make their own decisions? Anna
was born to be a marrow donor for her leukemia-ridden sister, Kate. Picoult
shows what happens when Anna refuses to be a pawn and drags her family
into a vicious legal battle. Interestingly, Picoult writes each chapter
from a different point of view, using every character except Kate. Picoult
ends each chapter with a heartfelt revelation. I enjoyed this book because
it drew me in and was thorough and well-written. Definetly Picoult's
best.
Read it! " by Ashley Birdsell
"My Sister's
Keeper overall is a well-written book. The story line brings up a sitation
that can often be taken for
granted. Many
families that have a child with cancer delibertly have another child
to help the cancerous child by "donating" parts of their body.
However, no one ever thinks about how this child would feel. This book
explores
every thought that goes through one of these child's head. Think about
it, would you want to be here just so you can donate parts of your body?"

"Overall I did not enjoy book. I thought it was way too
juvinille and predictable. The main character, Jack is pretty much a normal
highschool boy. There was nothing about this character that was intriguing,
he was just a noramal kid who was looking for a prom date. When his friends
put out an ad saying that Jack needs a date, there were of course disaterous
results. Again, too predictable. His ends up having a secret admirer, who
was suposed to remained a secret, but I guessed it right away. Not my type
of book, I do not recommend it." by Kellie Schweon |

"This book is the first in a series of David Baldacci books
writing about the realtity of life. Two kids simultanousely lose their
parents and are sent to live with a great aunt in West Virginia...quite
a change from the big city life of New York City that they're used to.
The older sister and her younger brother go through all the troubles of
moving to a small city in the south in the early 1900's. David Baldacci
had mixed the entertaining style of his writing with the historically acurate
information of the time period to create a wildly entertaining novel." by

But nobody believes him. Except Murdouch, a man who he meets at a little

"The Thirteenth Tale is an excellent book that I would recommend
to anyone looking for a good, interesting read. The writing style is classical
and full of detail. Amateur biographer Margaret Lea receives a letter from
the reclusive author Vida Winter, who has spent decades fabricating different
histories for herself. Now, however, she finally wishes to tell the truth.
Margaret finds herself immersed in the mysterious story that is Winter's
true past, a story encompassing ghosts, enigmatic twins Adeline and Emmeline,
and a dreadful fire. The mysteries of Winter's story and Margaret's own
are beautifully written, making for a compelling and rich read." by Ashley

because of messing up with money and their family went from extremely rich
to extremely poor. To make money he becomes a pool boy with his former
pool worker. He developes a close relationshipship with him and learns
alot. Wow. Doesn't that just sound absolutely enthralling. I have to admit
that they way it was written was good. Michael Simmons was able to make
a teenagers voice very well in the book and the you really saw the boy
grow up. However, the completely sarcastic dialogue and lack of a well-developed
plot annoyed me. It is a black eyed-susan book but I don't think I would
vote for it. It's a quick read all teenage sappy blah and the author knows
that or that is how it is expressed. The characters were good. The plot
was just..eh.." by Natalia Riccio |

main characters, two Japanese sisters who cared greatly for each other
as both family and friend, experience a strong bond of friendship

"Locked in Heaven, Suzie Salmon is doomed to watch her family's life fall
to pieces. Suzie Salmon is the protagonist in this spectacular fictional
read. Young Suzie Salmon was lured by her curiosity into the hands of a
lunatic neighbor. Her neighbor then locked her into his secret hideout
and raped and killed her. Suzie now finds herself in Heaven, able to watch
over life on earth. She observes her sister build a brick, impenetrable
wall around her heart, her mother fall into an adulterous affair, and her
father become helpless. The Lovely Bones has characters that are carefully
structured and depicted that add to the horrific and comedic elements of
the story. The author, Anne Sebold, writes with her heart, as she is a
former rape victim. This book not only gives the reader the sensation of
reading a good book, but teaches the reader good lessons that they could
later apply to situations they find themselves in. If you are looking for

that captures your heart, The Lovely Bones is book I strongly recommend

At Rivendell Frodo learns the ring must be destroyed where it was forged, in the fires on Mount Doom , deep within Mordor. In Rivendell, a fellowship is formed to escort Frodo to Mount Doom so Frodo can destroy the ring and end the war. On the way to Mordor, the Fellowship has to make their way through the deep mines of Moria. Gandalf, the Fellowships leader, never makes it out of Moria. The fellowship then heads south where they are attacked by orcs. One member of the fellowship dies and two others are captured. "The book The Thief Lord is an award winning novel by Cornelia Funke that should be read by everyone. Funke is able to successfully combine adventure, mystery, and fantasy to create a very suspenseful book. The novel is about run away or orphaned teens that now live together in an abandoned movie theater. The children rely on “The Thief Lord” to supply them with money and food. The story has different sub plots and story lines that keep the reader entranced throughout the story. The setting of the story takes place in Venice , Rome where the canals and alleys intensify the suspense in the chase scenes. Funke does a very good job on describing the characters and the setting so that the reader can picture everything, but not too much like Tolkien. Henry's life as a CDP: a Chrono-Displaced Person. Henry travels throughout
time at random intervals and cannot control when or where it will happen.
Through these excursions, he meets his future wife, Clare. I enjoyed reading
both Henry and Clare's points of view, although the changes can be confusing.
I would reccomend this book to people who like science fiction elements
in a real-life situation, and who are looking for a harder read." by
Ashley Birdsell
"The
Time Traveler's Wife is about a man named Henry that can time travel,
but can't control when or where. He is 28 when he first meets his wife
but she has already known him since she was 6. The book tells of some
of the various times they meet in the past and in present day, explaining
how they met and how they fell in love. The book goes into how hard
it is living with the time travel disease and what it's like to never
know where your husband is. I felt that the book was a bit slow and
that it was only interesting in the middle. I felt that through foreshadowing
they gave away the ending too early and made reading the remainder
of the book very uninteresting. The main problem with this book was
that is was written in a very complicated way with point of view changing
every page or so and having to remember what age they were in what
time. If you can handle changing time every page or so you would like
this book, but if you want light easier reading I would look elsewhere." by

"**Spoilers**"Dead Girls Don't Write Letters" is
about a girl who steals deceased people's identity because she can't seem
to create a life of her own. She longs for attention and gets it best by
pretending to be other people since she doesn't have a family of her own.
The main character is from a family where a recently deceased loved one
is now being played by this imposter.**(end Spoiler)** I found this book
to be a very humorous story because the main character Sunny is just so
sarcastic and pessimistic. The story also makes for a great mystery since
the entire time you really don't understand what's going on or why Sunny
is treating her "sister" so badly. The truth completely takes
you by surprise and you finally realize why certain characters reacted
to the girl the way they did. I would recommend this book to anyone who
likes a funny story and to figure out the real situation of the story from
beginning till it's revealed at the end." by Courtney Carroll |

book because its real. Its not one of those fluffy fairytales when everybody
ends up happy in the end. It tells a story that has happened to teens around
the world and is brutally honest about some of the issues we face. V.C

***** |
"To Kill a Mockingbird is a great book with beautiful story in 1930s. The main topics of the book are benevolence, courage and innocence and the reader can sympathize with the characters. The story takes in place in Alabama right after the Great Depression and right before WWII starts. Atticus Finch, the father of Jem and Scout, is the most respected lawyer in the town. Atticus agrees to represent Tom Robinson, a black man, who is charged with raping a white woman. Mayalla Ewell tried to tempt Tom, who works for her family. When her father found out, she accused Tom of raping her. Atticus knows he is going to lose this case just because Tom is a black man, but Atticus doesn't give up. The court convicts Tom of the crime simply because he is black; it's just like when people killed a mockingbird just because it was so noisy. This is a really great book to read during summer when people have enough time to read and think about things. You will not regret the time spent reading this book." By Haehee Cho |

"James Bradley's moving debut Flags of Our Fathers chronicles the lives of six extraordinary men, as they move through World War II and beyond. The book began as an investigation into his late father, John “Doc” Bradley's past, but the project developed into something more as Bradley learned of the six men who raised the flag at Iwo Jima . Flags of Our Fathers describes a major historical event, yet reading the book is hardly like reading a textbook. Bradley does a fantastic job of making sure the personalities of the men shine through; they never seem stuffy, but instead like friends. Readers will be able to relate people in their own lives to the six brave men: quiet, brooding Ira, religious, responsible Jack, sweet, goofy Franklin, handsome Rene, athletic Harlon and Mike, their strong, serious leader. An interesting and challenging read, Flags of Our Fathers delivers a lesson that readers won't soon forget." By Kate Felton |
