Teaching Exp: Began teaching in 2000 at Wakisha Charter School in Philadelphia for my first year, then at MCS Charter School in Philadelphia for the following three years; came to THS in 2004.

BA - English / Secondary Education at Shippensburg University (2000)

At the heart of all spoken and written communication in this country is a core knowledge of the dynamics of English. Many young learners disregard the importance of this core knowledge, and are not made aware of it until they move into the professional sector and realize how few opportunities their lack of knowledge will afford them. I teach to help ensure that students have a relevant experience with English. Exposure to literature, as well as real-world scenarios that involve use of the language will help prepare them for a time in their lives where employment and advancement will rely partly on their mastery of the skills English incorporates.
